As IRISi starts its 8th year, we reflect on our journey in improving the healthcare response to gender-based violence over the past seven years. Our evidence-based interventions, IRIS and ADViSE, have played a pivotal role in facilitating early identification and preventing escalation within healthcare settings, directly benefiting 36,352 service users by March 2023. Yet, despite our strides, we continue to face persistent challenges in securing funding to sustain our services on a national scale.
IRISi remains steadfast in our commitment to ensuring equitable access to vital support for every person in the UK. We vehemently oppose the notion of a postcode lottery determining access to life-saving resources. Our mission is clear: advocate for nationwide access, leaving no one behind.
To overcome these obstacles and deliver comprehensive support, we must ensure sustainable funding for existing programmes and expand our reach across the country. This approach empowers more healthcare professionals to identify and refer patients affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence to our local partners, the specialist domestic abuse services, and ensure that they have the funding they need to provide this support.
We are launching the #DonateForABrighterFuture campaign – a call to action to amplify our impact and secure funding through your generous donations. By challenging systemic barriers and rallying support, we can forge a future where gender-based violence is met with a unified, nationwide response. Join us in shaping a safer, more inclusive society, free from harm and fear.
Your contribution today fuels our mission toward enduring change for victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence across the UK: www.irisi.org/donate
