At the beginning of 2021, IRISi announced that it was looking for new board members with a commitment to helping our organisation to achieve its objectives including a world in which gender-based violence is consistently recognised and addressed as a health issue. We are now delighted to introduce Jacqueline Gantley and Daphne Amevenu who will be working as a part of our board!
Jacqueline Gantley is a recently retired GP who worked in central Cardiff for over 30 years: “I was fortunate to be appointed as the IRIS Clinical Lead for two areas in South Wales in late 2014. I am now looking forward to taking on a new role with the IRISi board nationally, helping to both build on and sustain the already very successful rollout”.
Daphne Amevenu also has previous experience of working with IRISi and the IRIS Programme, since she used to work at the Health Foundation who supported the development of our social franchise programme of work. With extensive experience in bringing innovative solutions to the healthcare sector, Daphne explains that she is interested in mainstreaming diversity and inclusion across her work and has run various initiatives throughout her career to enable this:
“I would like to support IRISi’s mission by sharing my knowledge of the changes in primary care in England to support broader uptake of the IRIS intervention. I would like to use my commercial experience from my time at PwC to support IRISi to continue to develop as an organisation and I would love to support the equality work to ensure all women are given the support they need to overcome domestic violence and abuse”.
For Medina Johnson, CEO at IRISi, the arrival of these two new members is something special: “We are an inclusive organisation, committed to ensuring our Board and staff team reflect the diversity of the people we serve. We encouraged applications from individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, from younger adults and across all the protected characteristics and we also welcomed applications from first-time board members.”.
The IRISi board, team and IRIS network welcome Jacqueline and Daphne. We are delighted to have you on our journey!
